Just when you thought our announcements were done…
We are always looking to grow Manchester Punk Festival wherever possible and provide a wider representation of underground art and performance. Last year we introduced a comedy stage for one afternoon and it was so well received we decided to invite them back for the full event. If that isn’t enough for you, we are buzzing to announce that this year will see the first poetry performers in the history of MPF and we couldn’t be more excited about what has been put together.

“DEAD CAT COMEDY have been running alternative comedy shows across the UK since 2012. In 2018, Dead Cat launched MPF’s first ever Comedy Stage. It was a magnificent afternoon of entertainment, Chaz from Lightyear described it as “better than expected” which is something I guess. In 2019, Dead Cat returns with three days of gut-busting hardcore hilarity. Every act has been hand-picked to satisfy any true punk/comedy fan” – Scarlet SoHandsome.
Your resident MCs for the weekend will be New Zealand export SULLY O’SULLIVAN and Drag Queen SCARLET SOHANDSOME. Headliners’ include hi-tech wizards FOXDOG STUDIOS, Edinburgh Fringe award-winner WIL HODGSON and star of Russell T Davies’ Banana, Cucumber and Tofu BETHANY BLACK. Plus support from a diverse pool of UK’s best comedy talent.
The rest of the line up consists of the wonderful Rachel Fairburn, Thick Richard, Amy Gledhill, Pete Philipson, James Meehan, Eddy Hoo, AJ Hill, Adam Hughes, Evan Desmerais, Anna Thomas, Jonny Collins, Tony Wright, Si Beckwith, Ross Brierely, Shell Byron, Dean Coughlin and Rosco McLelland.

“Punk’s not always just been about three chords, as punk writers, poets and story-tellers have graced gigs for decades. This stage will feature some of the UK’s finest punk poets and poets-who-are-punks for an eclectic mixture of spoken word. This may be the stage least likely to feature a pit, but it will feature lashings of rhyme and verse, stories and stanzas, humour and politics, honesty and passion. The perfect spot to come for an afternoon chill (and nurse that hangover).”- Henry Raby.
The line up for the first ever MPF poetry performers is Martin Appleby, Kit Rayne, Genevieve L. Walsh, Cynthia Rodriguez, Bridget Hart, Suky Goodfellow, Simon Widdop and Henry Raby.
Both of these will run at Thirsty Scholar with poetry from 1pm til 2.30pm and comedy from 3pm til 6pm each day! Please check out our website for more information on each performer.
