It’s time to announce our final wave of bands for MPF2018. We are excited to bring such a stacked line up to Manchester and can’t quite believe the collection of awesome music that we will get to see.
MPF2018 sees the return of LA hardcore shredders Death By Stereo who are making their first appearance in Manchester for six years. They are one of the bands we have wanted on our line up since we began so it’s great that it has finally happened. As we like to try and bring bands back from the dead for a rare performance, we are delighted to announce that the original UK melodic hardcore innovators Fireapple Red will be gracing one of our stages. As they have inspired so many bands, some that we have playing this year, it’s so cool to be able to welcome them on to our line up.
Another band we are seeing the return of is Wakefield punk rockers Milloy. We thought we had seen the last of them after the tragic loss of their bass player Ian Smart in 2015, but they have decided to return to show us all why so many consider them to be a real gem in the UK punk rock scene.
Making what will be their 3rd MPF appearance, we are welcoming back Plymouth folk rock and roll legends Crazy Arm for a dance. They have stormed the festival both times they have played previously. Local favourites Fair Do’s will be making their annual appearance off the back of the release of their long awaited imminent full length record, we are assured it will be available before the festival but anything is possible with those cretins. You can also catch them on tour with Death By Stereo in late April.
After being unable to play our first event, we are very pleased that southern punks The Stupids are able to finally join us. With a lengthy career behind them, they are a band that are held in high regard for their contribution to the DIY punk scene. Self-proclaimed punk witches Dream Nails, from London Town, are ready to take a trip up north for their MPF debut with an infectious energy and determination to make a change. Girls to the front!
Another band making a rare appearance this year are TNSrecords favourites, and everyone’s least favourite family band, Stand Out Riot. After playing a great set for Anarchistic Undertones on New Year’s Eve they are ready to make their return to MPF after being involved back in 2015. We seem to love southerners a lot this year too so have invited the metal crust punks in Meinhof to play for us. They have a new album due out on Deviance Records sometime soon.
We are incredibly excited to finally welcome German hardcore crust punks Finisterre on to the line-up for the first time. A band that tell stories of anger and hope through a unique blend of dark post hardcore and heavy d-beat/crust punk. Along-side them we also have Arboricidio making the journey up from London to spew their mournful and raging d-beat across your faces.
London thrash punks The KADT wanted to show the world how little their guitarist is so are jumping on board this year along with local techy post-punk pretty boys Upstream Colour who feature former members of Pendleton and Durai.
Our acoustic stage is stacked high this year. We are delighted to announce that legendary performer Babar Luck will be headlining the stage on Friday. As well as Babar, we have also added Gutter Romance and Carol Hodge to what is potentially the most exciting acoustic line up we have offered so far.
Unfortunately Shankland is no longer able to perform this year. We still love him forever and can’t wait to see him back in action. We asked the wonderful Arms and Hearts to step in instead.
