As we’ve had a few venues changes from last year, we wanted to provide an update on the accessibility of Manchester Punk Festival in good time for everyone to make their arrangements.
As always, Manchester Punk Festival is organised across several venues in Manchester city centre. The restrictions using pre-existing venues for a festival instead of purpose built staging etc. does mean that this can often have an effect on those who find the likes of stairs a struggle, or impossible. Our main venue for previous years was Sound Control, which hosted two stages but wasn’t accessible. This year, with Sound Control no longer being used, we’ve replaced this with two venues; Rebellion and The Bread Shed. Both of these venues are wheelchair accessible, although there is a longer distance between stages than before. The locations of all venues and maps are available on our Venues page.
Although we continue to reassess and consider how to make the festival more accessible to all people in the future, we recognise that having access to just some of the performances in 2018 is restrictive and disappointing.
Because of this, we would like to offer a discounted ticket to people who will experience restrictions due to accessibility issues. To enquire about a discounted ticket, or if you have any questions about access at any of the venues, please message the facebook page or email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you’re a promoter yourself and interested in accessibility options and how to improve them yourselves, the Attitude Is Everything – DIY Access Guide is a great piece of reading to look into.
