MPF2018: First Band Announcement – Propagandhi and more…

We’re all very excited to finally be able to share with you the first wave of bands announced for Manchester Punk Festival next year. We’re back on the 19th-21st April 2018 across six Manchester city centre venues. Now in our fourth year, the festival aims promote our favourite UK and overseas bands on an affordable line up in good and accessible venues. We have some amazing bands booked in for the next edition and we are really pleased to share some of them with you now.

We are ecstatic to announce that one of our all time favourite bands, the mighty Propagandhi, will be heading over to Manchester for the first time in 15 years. THINK ABOUT THAT just for a minute!!!

We are stacking the line up high this year and we’re delighted to welcome the biggest party band in the world all the way from Australia in the form of The Bennies along with Canadian make-up bag losing punkers Mobina Galore and Dutch melodic punk rockers Antillectual. Three bands we are very pleased to finally welcome to MPF.

As always we have some TNSrecords favourites in the form of the hardworking Wonk Unit and Pizzatramp, both going from strength to strength with every gig they play. Another UK label we are huge fans of is Lockjaw Records, so we are delighted to include three bands from their roster; south UK melodic beardcore stalwarts Darko, who live in the big shoe owned by Mother Goose, the politically charged Drones from London and a very special reunion performance from Lancashire techy gimps Egos At The Door.

All Aboard! will be coming over from Belgium with their Hot Water Music-esque punk rock in tow, and we’ve also got two of the best new UK bands from the indie/punk side of things in the form of Nervus and Fresh. As you can tell from previous line ups, we have a real love for the Danish punk scene and this year we have invited Forever Unclean over who are yet to be beaten to the title of ‘best CD drop submission’.

We’re extending the acoustic stage to both the Friday and Saturday this year. Appearing in Underdog will be local folk vermin The Lab Rats, Nottingham folk solo ting Shankland, Bradford’s finest Captain Hotknives and Keighley’s folk punkers Foxes Faux. A great start to what is always a very popular stage!

Flying the crust flag will be the UK’s own Regret and Wolfbeast Destroyer, two bands that know how to make a lot of noise. They line up nicely with hardcore band Natterers from Yorkshire, the wonderful Christmas from Germany, Russian thrash rockers Svetlanas and Brighton death punks Rotten Foxes. Our boys in Throwing Stuff are also playing but no line up is ever going to be perfect is it.

We are also very pleased to welcome East Anglian supergroup The Minor Discomfort Band who will be bringing their very own barn dance to Manchester. We have added a couple of local up and comers in the form of hardcore gig pull-out punks Incisions and GCSE studying punks Aerial Salad.

Rounding off the first announcement we have the great Uniforms who hail from Dundee and Spoilers from Kent, both playing their own take on pop punk mixed with all kinds of stuff.

Super Early Bird tickets were snapped up in minutes last night, before any bands were announced. We now have an allocation of Early Bird tickets for just £35 and we’d advise you to get on these up as quick as you can.
